Visualize Your Way To Success
Copyright (c) Lisa van den Berg
Visualisation is one of the most powerful tools you can use on
your path in Life.
The underlying knack to overriding the barriers your
subconscious/ego will erect in order to preserve its picture of
your reality, is to imagine yourself as BEing the person you
intend to become.
This way you are actually saying to the Universe ‘this is the
person I intend to become. When I’ve overcome subconscious/ego
resistance, this will be my new reality.’ That’s when the Law
of Correspondence kicks in and brings you everything you need
to BE this new reality.
There is a Universal Law that is as solid and dependable as the
Law of Gravity. It is that Law of Correspondence. Just as you
know that you will always be drawn to the earth by the Law of
Gravity, know that you can have in your life what you desire,
by the Law of Correspondence.
The Law of Correspondence states that you can only have from
life, that which belongs to you by right of Consciousness. In
other words you need to choose to BE the person who is wealthy,
choose to BE the person who is confident. The Law of
Correspondence won’t give you riches when you have a ‘poor
mentality’. Jim Rohn says that you should aim to be a
millionaire – not for the money, but for the person you will be
forced to become in order to be worthy of making a million!
So you need to sit down and write a whole long list of all the
things you don’t want to be, do or have. Divide a piece of paper
into two columns and just let it all hang out and write without
judgement, until all your frustrations, irritations, annoyances
are down in the left hand column. Like ‘I don’t want to struggle
with money any more’, ‘I don’t want to be shy’, ‘I don’t want to
sit alone every Friday night’.
When you have this list, then you’ll be able to see what you
DO want.
Like ‘I am successful and have a continuous stream of residual
income that has allowed me to retire’, ‘I am self confident
enough to get a job that I’ll love’, ‘I am attractive to the
opposite sex and am never without a date.’
Now take that list of what you DO want and choose the top three
things you want to change. We’ll call these your ‘Statements of
Desire’
When you’re ready to say and visualize your top three statements,
choose a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. I recommend
you spend 10 minutes, on each visualization, 3 times a day.
Totally immerse yourself in this exercise because the stronger
your visual picture, the stronger the outcome.
Read you first Statement of Desire out loud.
Say to yourself, ‘Who will I be BEing when …… is no longer a
problem?’
Close your eyes and imagine yourself as the person who is
living the statement. For instance, if your goal is a Ferrari,
imagine yourself sitting in the driving seat. Feel the cool
leather, the power of the engine, smell the ‘new car’ smell,
hear the beat of the music from the state of the art stereo,
feel the wind in your hair as you put your foot down.
Or imagine travelling to the dealership in Italy. First class
tickets on Concorde, superb food and champagne, total
excitement! Being picked up by a Limo at the airport and driven
to the Ferrari dealership. A tour of the factory to see just
how lovingly and painstakingly your car was hand crafted. Then…
aaah, there she is!
See yourself doing the money transfer straight from your bank
to theirs. Finally, she’s all yours!
Can you feel, see, hear, taste and smell your goal? It needs
to be a crystal clear vision of success. Don’t worry if it
doesn’t come straight away, the longer you practice
Visualization, the better you get.
The most important factor is that you have to make sure you
feel all the emotions you would feel at this time. Feel the
‘bursting’ excitement of driving that amazing car, the
anticipation of the night before, the exhilaration of
achieving your goal.
Imagery is controlled by the primitive part of our brain that
also controls emotion. When a stimulus comes into our brain it
goes through this area first. This area doesn’t distinguish
between right and wrong, real or imagined, just between emotion
and none. So, the stronger the emotion, the more vivid the
picture, the more your subconscious will believe what you feed
it.
I find that whenever I want to bring about a change in, my
life I write out a Statement of Desire and it gets so strong
that I actually begin to dream about it. That’s when you know
you’re getting through and changes are taking place.
Continue these exercises for 21 days (how long it takes to form
a new habit) and you’ll see a transformation in your life!
